CLASS DATES ON TUESDAYS – NOVEMBER 7, NOVEMBER 14, NOVEMBER 28, DECEMBER 5, DECEMBER 12. FINAL CLASS DAY IS MONDAY DECEMBER 18.

CLASS TIMES – 6:00PM – 8:30PM

COST: Delaware Tribal members must pay a deposit of $25.00 to register for class. The deposit will be reimbursed upon completion of the class. Non-Delawares must pay a NON-REFUNDABLE deposit of $50 to register for class.

Make deposit payable to DELAWARE TRIBE OF INDIANS; comment line: Mocs Class. Direct all payments to Tribal Accounting Office. A receipt will be issued by the Accounting staff. No participant will be registered for class without the deposit.

Materials for each person will be purchased and provided when class begins November 7.

If you bring young school-age kids, we will provide a craft table and attendant to keep them busy HOWEVER we are NOT providing child care while you’re in class. Wanishi.

Award date on 10/31/2017. Preference given to TERO certified, Delaware Tribe or Native American Bidders. Proof of certification required with submittals. Certificates of Insurance required prior to start date. The Delaware Tribe holds all rights to not award bid if cost or start date are not acceptable.

Send in Your Absentee Ballot Request by October 27

Absentee voters are reminded that if you voted in any one of the 2013, 2014, or 2016 elections you are “registered” to vote and will receive an absentee ballot. If you have moved during this period, however, you must fill out a request for absentee ballot, with your new address to receive a ballot.

If you did not vote in one of these elections you will need to send in an Absentee Ballot Request Form. All forms must be sent by U.S.P.S. and be received by close of business on October 27, 2017.

General Description:

Assist with low rent, homeownership programs to fulfill the needs of the Delaware Tribe Housing Program clients. Counsel and assist clients with the understanding of the policies and procedures. The successful candidate can expect local travel several times per month, and out-of-town travel for training several times per year. Must have good attention to detail and pride in your work. Must enjoy a challenge; possess an excellent sense of humor and well-developed stress management techniques. Must have experience in working with diverse groups of individuals, especially those at low and very low income levels. Will possess a working knowledge of: (1) HUD housing programs; (2) Delaware Tribe Housing programs and ; (3) the local housing market. Must understand Federal Statutes and regulations that govern HUD/Housing Program.

Qualifications:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactory. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and /or ability required. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

Associate’s degree (A.A.) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school; or two years progressively responsible related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience and six months experience related to counseling.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

Ability to read and understand correspondence, governmental regulations and related material, ordinances, resolutions, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports, business correspondence, and draft procedure manuals. Ability to present information, and respond to questions from clients, customers and the general public. The ability to speak effectively before groups is highly desirable.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals. Experience with and/or knowledge of accounting principles, practices or accounting software highly desirable.

COMPUTER SKILLS:

Intermediate skills and abilities, including working knowledge of Windows and Microsoft Office (or other major suite software applications). Ability to operate mouse and keyboard with high accuracy and moderate or better speed; operation of color printer.

REASONING ABILITY:

Ability to apply common sense understanding to interpret and carry out a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form; Ability to solve practical problems and to deal with problems involving several variables.

Tribal Scholarship Applications Available

The Delaware Tribe of Indians has budgeted for two $5,000 scholarships to be awarded for the Fall Semester 2018. These scholarship will be given to two qualifying members of the Delaware Tribe of Indians. Applications will be processed and chosen by the Education Committee of the Delaware Tribe of Indians Trust Board. There are also smaller scholarships given by the Trust Board but this is actually from the Tribe. Eligible members may apply and be awarded scholarships from both the Tribe and the Trust Board. Applicants may apply for this $5,000 funding to attend a two year college, a four year college, post grad work, or a skilled trade school. Only two will be awarded. This Council has worked hard to make this available to all interested tribal members. Please complete the application and return it by the due date.

General Description:

The Department Director provides oversight, supervision, direction of planning and coordination of the program budget, goals & objectives, and staffing. Monitors and assists with the overall implementation of policies and procedures for support of professional staff. Oversight in maintaining compliance related to Tribal, Federal, and State laws, policies, procedures, and regulations. Works as required with child and family agencies, applicable law enforcement and court systems at Tribal, Federal, and State levels.

Qualifications:

Minimum of Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work, Sociology, or Psychology or related field. A degree in Business Administration with management emphasis may substitute at the discretion of Tribal Operations Director. Master’s Degree preferred. Prefer three (3) years’ experience in social services work in public or private sector.

Must have comprehension and understanding of community/social services program operation, planning, and direction.

Must have a minimum of one (1) year experience managing or supervising subordinate staff.

Must have comprehension and understanding of the basic principles of Child Support Enforcement, Indian Child Welfare, Domestic Violence Intervention, and civil court proceedings.

Must have a minimum of one (1) year experience working in child support enforcement or child welfare case management.

Must show literacy, proficiency, and experience in the use of Microsoft Office suite of programs including Outlook. Must possess excellent oral and written communication skills. Must be able to maintain a working relationship with program staff, contract consultants, and court judges & clerks.

Must be able to pass a background check (no felony convictions or misdemeanor convictions for offenses relating to children).

Must be able to pass an employment drug screen test.

Must possess a valid driver’s license and be insurable.

Enrollment Dept Attends Shawnee Tribe Cobell Clinic

On Thursday, August 17th, the Shawnee Tribe and Oklahoma Indian Legal Services, Inc. (OILS) held a clinic at the Shawnee Tribe Community Building, 108 Eight Tribes Trail, Miami, Oklahoma, with any claims regarding the Cabell vs. Salazar class action lawsuit (Cabell).

Delaware Tribe of Indians Enrollment Director Chris Miller was in attendance. He pledged to get as much information as he can to pass on to Delaware tribal members.
