Learn Tai Chi with Our Elders!

A demonstration of ‘meditation of movement’ Tai Chi will be presented on July 23rd to the Elder Nutrition participants at 1:00 pm in the Community Center dining room, 5100 E Tuxedo, Bartlesville, OK. Anyone interested is invited to join the elders.

The trained Tai Chi instructors are Judy Fu and Peter Fletcher. They were asked to come to our elder program for the benefit of the elders and they kindly accepted. Chair exercise is already offered Monday, Wednesday and Thursday at the Center but some people might enjoy finding a different approach to staying healthy or improving mobility.

A ‘FREE’ Tai Chi class is held every Wednesday at 2:00 pm at the First Baptist Church Family Life Center, 4th and Cherokee, Bartlesville, OK.

Happy 94th Birthday!

Happy 94th birthday to Mrs. Mary C. Falleaf (June 29th). Mary is the widow of deceased tribal member Numerous Falleaf and became part of the tribe many, many years ago as a young girl in 1935. She played a key role in founding Copan PowWow and over the years she has touched the lives and hearts of a great number of our Delaware people. Today she resides in Apache Junction, Arizona and is no longer able to make the long journey home to visit us but let us all keep this great lady in our hearts and prayers as we wish her a happy birthday and many more to come.

Dena Marie Wayne Graduates

Graduated May 13,2013 from Nursing Program at Pitt Community College in Winterville, NC with and Associates Degree in Nursing with an Academic Status of Honor Roll. She has also passed her NCLEX making her a Nationally Certified RN. Dena is the granddaughter of Virginia Infield Johnson of Midwest City, OK, the great granddaughter of the late Ida Sarcoxie Infield of Bartlesville, OK and the great-great-granddaughter of the late Little John Sarcoxie.

Hunter Perrier

Amy Wiley Swims for University of Miami

Delaware citizen Amy Wiley, whose paternal grandmother was Maudie “Bullette” Hough, recently represented the University of Miami in Coral Gables, FL at the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) Swimming Championships in Greensboro, NC. Amy is the daughter of Bill and Jay Wiley of Lake Oswego, OR.

Amy graduated from Lakeridge High School in 2011, where she was an Honor Student and a two-time Oregon 6A High School State Champion in the 100-yard breaststroke. Wiley holds the Oregon State High School State record in the 200 Medley and 200 Freestyle relays as well as the 6A State Record in the 100-yard Breaststroke. Wiley also ran track for Lakeridge and placed at State in the long jump and the 300-meter hurdles.

Wiley is a redshirt freshman at Miami majoring in Exercise Physiology, Pre-Med Track. At the recent ACC Championships she made a B-Final in the 100-yard breaststroke and a C-final in the 200-yard breaststroke, helping the Hurricanes place sixth in the ACC.

Tribal Manager Curtis Zunigha Honored

  • Tribal Manager Curtis Zunigha was recently honored by the Greater Tulsa Area Indian Affairs Commission with the 2012 Will Anquoe Humanitarian Award. Zunigha was awarded for 25 years of service to Indian Country including his time on both the Tulsa and Oklahoma Indian Af¬fairs Commissions.
