COVID-19 Emergency Rental Assistance Program
NOTICE: DTI housing program still has COVID-19 Emergency Rental Assistance funds.
Please use the attached application and return to the Delaware Tribe of Indians Housing Department with all the documentation listed in the instructions.
The DTIs’ IHBG (Indian Housing Block Grant) COVID-19 Emergency Rental Housing Assistance Program is designed to assist low income Native American families with emergency rental housing related assistance. Assistance may include deposit and/or monthly rent, temporary lodging, lot/site rental for manufactured housing, and may also include utility charges, but DOES NOT include repairs or installation of items for the unit. Current residents of DTI affordable housing are not eligible for this assistance.
This program is limited to one-time assistance and is only to be provided during the COVID-19 pandemic emergency and is provided on an urgent basis and is temporary in nature and must be used in prevention, preparation and/or response to the COVID-19 pandemic.
This assistance can only be provided to those families who have not yet received any similar assistance from the Delaware Tribe or other source. Special exclusions or restrictions on units built prior to 1978 apply, due to lead-based paint requirements. In no such case shall the term of the assistance or lodging provided exceed 100 days regardless of whether or not the entire $1,000 award has been exhausted. The Delaware Tribe reserves the right to recapture or award a lesser amount in such cases. If approved for assistance, the voucher will be mailed directly to the vendor, landlord or utility company.
INSTRUCTIONS: Please read carefully and submit a completed application with all required documentation. Incomplete applications will not be processed. Due to the flexibility of the program, applicants must submit documentation specifically related to their request for assistance. Applications may be submitted online with electronic documentation with some sections completed verbally over the telephone.
1. Verification of Tribal enrollment with a federally recognized tribe for Head of Household OR Spouse, CDIB card, Tribal ID OR official correspondence from the Tribal enrollment office OR Bureau of Indian Affairs are all acceptable forms of documentation.
2. Identification for everyone listed on the application. Choose one from this list: Driver’s License OR State Identification Card OR Birth Certificate OR Tribal ID Cards OR CDIB. Name changes may be documented by birth certificates, marriage certificates or divorce decrees.
3. Social security card or numbers for everyone listed on the application.
4. Income verification for everyone 18 yrs of age or older. Third party verification is preferred on the form provided. Check stubs, payment statements, prior year tax returns may also be used, and a transaction report from BIA for last 12 months if you own trust/restricted property. If paper copies are not readily available, a self-certification form may be used or verbal self-certification may be provided over the telephone or through email. All are acceptable forms of income verification.
5. Copy of marriage license (if applicable).
6. Copy of dwelling lease/rental agreement that is compliant with the Oklahoma Landlord-Tenant Act, and/or documentation from a hotel/lodging establishment, utility company, cooperative or municipality with the amount due. This documentation may be provided over the phone with a receipt to follow upon payment.
7. Applicants shall provide a statement that you have not been awarded and received any other emergency rental or similar assistance during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Emergency Rental Assistance Program Funds Available
The Delaware Tribe Housing Program was recently awarded $735,300.57 from the U.S. Department of Treasury. The money is from the Emergency Rental Assistance (ERAP) program. Housing has developed policies and procedures for the disbursement of funds. The policies will be available with the application in order to apply for assistance.
Emergency rental assistance is available to eligible tribal member applicants residing anywhere in the United States of America. The Delaware Tribe of Indians’ reserves the right to make ERAP modifications based on current trends and funding availability subject to the requirements of section 501 of Division N of the Consolidated Appropriations Act, 2021, Pub. L. No. 116-260.
The basic description of this program is designed to assist eligible participants with emergency rental assistance primarily during the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. This program provides assistance for eligible applicants in the form of a grant in an amount to cover up to three months of dwelling rent and/or utility payments.
The tribal member applicant is responsible for providing all necessary information and accurately completing the application as required. Rental assistance includes but is not limited to short-term lease or rental payments of a duration that generally does not exceed three months’ and up to three months utilities. The assistance grant may be used to pay for arrearages not to exceed the three-month maximum. The ERAP funds may be provided once every three months subject to funding availability. Applicants must re-apply for additional assistance.
Applicants must meet all eligibility requirements to participate. The head or spouse must be at least 18 years old at the time of application. The applicant must qualify as a low-income family whose income does not exceed 80% of the local area median income. Income limits are adjusted for family size and updated on a periodic basis. There is no minimum income required.

NPS Region 1 Tribal and Cultural Affairs Internship Summer 2021 Available
The National Park Service has extended an internship program to tribal nations. The Cultural Resources Diversity Internship Program (CRDIP) is a professional development internship that introduces undergraduate and graduate students, from backgrounds historically underrepresented in the National Parks, to career opportunities within Cultural Resource Management in the NPS. Applicants must be 18-30 (up to 35 for Veterans) and be in pursuit of a higher education degree. A DHA (Direct Hire Authority) Internship targets exceptional upper-level undergraduate or graduate students that are interested in pursuing careers with the NPS. DHA positions will be rigorous internships that develop the participant’s technical and creative thinking abilities, leadership skills, and problem-solving capabilities. DHA applicants will be involved in cultural resource management projects that generate data and/or research that must be analyzed and presented to various stakeholders at the end of the internship. If the position is an education or interpretation project, the participant must research, develop, and pilot a program or materials for use at the host site. After successful completion of the internship, and graduation from their degree program, the intern will receive DHA non-competitive hiring eligibility. A successful candidate, one that completes an internship and their current degree program, will be able to hold a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) with 5 federal agencies making it easier to get hired! Institute for Tribal Environmental Professionals 2021 Student Summer Internship Available
Apply now for a paid 8-week summer internship.
Spend your summer working with tribal organizations to address tribal environmental issues. The internships have a technical, educational or policy focus. We are offering 8 positions in air quality. The internship program provides each student intern with a $4,000 stipend, and limited housing and travel allowances. Host sites are selected from tribal environmental organizations, government offices, the US Environmental Protection Agency (USEPA) and others.
Eligible students must meet the following:
• US Citizen
• Identify as Native American/Alaska Native
• Full-time undergraduate or graduate college student during Spring 2021 (12 hours undergrad, 9 hours grad) at any tribal college, college or university
• Have at least a 2.5 cumulative GPA
• Majoring in an environmental or related field like science, engineering, planning, policy, law, management, political science, anthropology, or health
• Interested in pursuing an environmental career after graduating
• Proficient verbal and written communication skills
• Strong interest in working with Native American tribes or topics

Indigenous Peoples Day – October 12 is a Tribal Holiday!
On October 7, 2015 the Delaware Tribal Council passed Resolution #2015-57 replacing Columbus Day with Indigenous Peoples Day and making it a tribal holiday. This Monday October 12, 2020 is a tribal holiday and offices will be closed so that our elected officials and employees can enjoy this special day with all of you.
