General Description
The General Maintenance Worker for the Delaware Tribe of Indians will perform repairs for assigned equipment and facilities including plumbing, electrical, basic carpentry, heating and cooling, and other building systems.

Education and Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Related experience preferred.
  • On-the-job training offered.

Required Skills/Abilities

  • Ability to follow instructions from supervisors or senior maintenance workers.
  • Knowledge of general carpentry and repair.
  • Ability to use hand tools and power tools.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.

Physical Requirements

  • Prolonged periods standing and walking.
  • Must be physically able to climb ladders, bend, or crawl into awkward spaces.
  • Must be able to lift up to 80 pounds at a time.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Inspects and identifies equipment or machines in need of repair.
  • Troubleshoots issues to determine necessary repairs.
  • Plans repair work using building’s blueprints or equipment manual as needed.
  • Performs general repairs that do not require a specialized technician. Examples may include repairing drywall, painting, and repairing doors and other building fixtures.
  • Performs routine maintenance on building systems.
  • Cleans and assists with upkeep of the facilities.
  • Orders supplies and materials needed for repairs and maintenance.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

General Description
Will be required to do basic food preparation, serving of meals, and be responsible for cleaning the kitchen and eating area. Follow strict hygiene, health and safety rules.

Required Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED.

Physical Demands
Must be able to lift or move up to 25 pounds. Employee is frequently required to sit, stand, walk, handle, lift and grab objects. May occasionally be required to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • To assist in the preparation of food
  • To assist in the serving of meals to clients, staff and others and the setting and clearing of tables.
  • To assist in the preparation and serving of beverages to staff, clients and others
  • To wash and dry kitchen pots/utensils and ensure their proper storage.
  • To clean the kitchen area (floors, cookers etc).
  • To assist in ensuring a high level of health and safety, cleanliness and food hygiene and to ensure that safe working practices are followed.
  • Report any problems to the Cook in Charge or responsible Senior Officer.
  • Assist in stock taking and storage of stock, including checking deliveries
  • Attend training courses as appropriate.
  • Ensuring the food preparation areas are clean and hygienic.
  • Washing utensils and dishes and making sure they are stored appropriately.
  • Sorting, storing and distributing ingredients.
  • Washing, peeling, chopping, cutting and cooking foodstuffs and helping to prepare salads and desserts.
  • Disposing of rubbish.
  • Table setting in a.m. and bringing dishes to the dining room for lunch and dinner for campers to set.
  • To assist with consolidation and proper storage of food after meals.
  • To clean up after meals and ongoing cleaning to maintain the highest levels of sanitation in the kitchen.
  • Dishwashing (we usually assign two kitchen workers to dishes and one to pots and pans)
  • Food prep to assist the cook and baker.
  • Salad Bar preparation.
  • Sweeping and mopping at the end of the day.
  • Beverage preparation i.e. bug juice, fruit juices and coffee.
  • Cleaning the food preparation equipment, floors and other kitchen tools or areas.
  • The post holder is part of a team whose aim is to promote the general well-being of service users and may be required to work with the client in the kitchen as appropriate
  • To carry out any other reasonable duties within the overall function of the job.

General Description
The director of the Elder Nutrition Department provides direction and oversight to the department, and its staff and volunteers in order to best serve the nutritional needs of the elders utilizing the service.

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED as well as at least two years of supervisory experience
  • Familiarity with Title VI part C operation and management
  • Must have a food handler’s license & some kitchen operation experience
  • Requires a high level of personal integrity and ethics
  • Requires a high level of problem solving and organization skills
  • Requires willingness and ability to learn new skills, including travel to conferences and training sessions.
  • Requires ability to use Microsoft Office Suite programs including Microsoft Project
  • Requires good interpersonal, communication and teamwork skills.
  • Requires a high level of confidentiality
  • Requires excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Must have own transportation and clean driving record- may be required to drive GSA vehicle or tribal vehicle to meeting or training.
  • Must have a basic understanding of special needs diets of the elderly such as diabetic, high blood pressure and heart patient diets.
  • Must be able to write monthly, quarterly, and annual reports to both the Tribal Council and funding agencies
  • Must be able to write an annual plan for the department each year, complete with budget and budget justifications.
  • Must be capable of obtaining/creating and providing elders with educational materials.
  • Must have basic grant writing capabilities

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Create regular reports to the Tribal Council and funding agencies
  • Prepare weekly schedules for employees and volunteers
  • Responsible for creating a department annual plan and budget each year
  • Provides direction and oversight to all staff and volunteers
  • Maintains and reports meal payments and donations as petty cash (reporting to CFO)
  • Prepares a health menu each month for distribution and publication
  • Orders food and supplies
  • Attends monthly and weekly staff meetings
  • Plans and /or approves special events for the elders such as weekly bingo, exercise, and elders council meetings
  • Prepares for tribal special events that need to use the dining room or need catering services.
  • Perform periodic cost analysis for department
  • Maintain an accurate inventory for the department
  • Other duties as assigned by Tribal Operations Manager

We have updated the digital edition of the DIN found on this website to contain the correct information, and we present the corrected Election Bulletin on this page along provide a link to the updated Declaration of Candidacy form and the updated DIN for your convenience.

As a reminder the Candidate filing period is now open and ends on September 1, 2022. No Exceptions.

2022 Delaware Election Bulletin

  • Election Day is Saturday November 5, 2022
  • The Chief Seat, (3) Tribal Council seats, (3) Trust Board seats, and (1) Associate Tribal Judge seat are up for election.
  • There will also be a Special Question on the ballot.
  • All registered voters can choose either to vote in person or by a Absentee Ballot via the U.S. Mail
  • All tribal members that voted in 2016, 2018, or 2020 will automatically receive an Absentee Ballot
  • Tribal members not voting in 2016, 2018, or 2020 wanting to vote by Absentee Ballot will need to ensure their request for an Absentee Ballot is post marked by October 17, 2022

General Description
The Manager of Finance & Operations is a high-level leadership position that works closely with the FCS director and Tribal operations Manager to ensure the smooth operation of the department. This position will primarily assist the director in monitoring and assisting in the overall implementation of policies and procedures for support of professional staff. This position will also assist the director in maintaining compliance with federal grants and state grants.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum of Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration or related field. Master’s Degree preferred. Minimum three years of experience in finance/accounting work in public or private sector.
  • Must have comprehension and understanding of community/social services program operation, fiscal management, planning, and direction.
  • Must have a minimum of one year of experience managing or supervising subordinate staff and one year of experience working in child support enforcement or child welfare case management.
  • Must have comprehension and understanding of the basic principles of Child Support Enforcement, Indian Child Welfare, Domestic Violence Intervention, and office management.
  • Must show literacy, proficiency, and experience in the use of Microsoft Office suite of programs including Outlook. Must possess excellent oral and written communication skills. Must be able to maintain a working relationship with program staff, contract consultants, and court judges & clerks.
  • Must be able to pass a background check (no felony convictions or misdemeanor convictions for offenses relating to children).
  • Must be able to pass an employment drug screen test.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license and be insurable.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assist the Director and Tribal Operations Manager in organizing the work of the finance, maintenance, security, Child Support, Domestic Violence, and Indian Child Welfare teams
  • Assist Director, Human Resources, and Tribal Operations Manager in recruiting, training, and retaining high-performing individuals.
  • Advise the director, Tribal Operations Manager, Tribal Council, and other members of the management team on operational budgeting, inventory purchasing, and financial decisions.
  • Assist with annual and quarterly budgeting, financial planning, & forecasting processes.
  • Maintain proficiency in all tribal codes, policies, and procedures plus all federal regulations related to department programs. Adhere to all policies and procedures in identifying client needs and assisting with case management services.
  • Professionally represent the department and the Delaware Tribe and attend various community meetings and events to promote the goals of our services

General Description
The Housing Specialist is responsible for performing administrative activities for the Housing Director within the Delaware Tribe of Indians, to ensure objectives are met within the appointed time frame and funding costs. It requires to meet and deal effectively in contact with Native American people and organizations. You must have tact, courtesy, confidentiality, discretion, resourcefulness, and sound judgement in sensitive situations at all times.

Required Qualifications

  • High school degree or GED required; two years of related job experience and/or training; combination of both preferred.

  • Must have working knowledge of Windows, Excel, Microsoft Office, etc.

  • Maintain all applications, brochures, welcome packets, and other information as required.
  • Daily check, scheduling and update of the tenant/Inspector calendar.
  • Present information and respond to questions from clients, customers and the general public.
  • Review and process incoming housing applications.
  • Prepare leasing agreements and acquire signatures as needed.
  • Setup, maintain, and secure all active/inactive tenant files and other office files.
  • Update and maintain waiting, vacancy, annual review, and inspection lists.
  • Write routine reports, file correspondence, draft procedure manuals, and assist with environmental reports.
  • Assist with low rent and remaining homeownership programs.
  • Read and understand governmental regulations, ordinances, and resolutions. All HUD guidelines, Federal Statutes, maintenance instructions and procedure manuals. Update as needed.
  • Develop a working knowledge of HUD NAHASDA, the Delaware Tribe Housing Program, Housing Data System (HDS), and the local housing market.
  • Strict confidentiality in regards to all Housing and Tribal matters is a must.
  • Must be willing and have the capability to travel for various conferences or workshops.

Transitional Housing & Outreach Coordinator

General Description
The Transitional Housing and Outreach Coordinator’s main role is to manage the division’s transitional housing program and coordinate community outreach and marketing campaigns. The coordinator will assist clients in securing appropriate housing, meet with landlords and develop partnerships, oversee marketing and advertising initiatives, and organize agency representation at community events and meetings.

Required Qualifications

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Social Sciences with a minimum of three years of experience; OR 5+ years of experience working in the fields of domestic violence advocacy, crisis intervention, low-income housing, marketing, and/or community outreach.
  • Must be skilled in working with sensitive issues and possess a commitment to respecting the confidential nature of the work.
  • Must have a proven ability to work effectively with diverse clients and resource services.
  • Must have a demonstrated problem-solving approach to concerns and challenges.
  • Must be proficient in data collection and reporting, and possess strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Knowledge of family violence dynamics, trauma informed advocacy services, environmental stressors, safety planning, risk assessments, local community resources, and federal and state laws pertaining to domestic abuse, Family law and the Victim Rights Bill is critical.
  • Knowledge about housing laws, such as the Fair Housing Act and housing assistance programs such as such as HUD and Section 8 would be helpful, though not required.
  • The ideal candidate would be extremely organized, detail-oriented and passionate about helping survivors of domestic violence.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with victim advocates to assist their clients in finding safe housing and coordinate follow-up services for program participants.
  • Communicate with landlords and property managers to create lasting partnerships, ensure rent payments are made on time, and necessary documents are exchanged.
  • Track program participation and report data per grant requirements.
  • Research best practices, revise policies & procedures, and explore opportunities to expand the transitional housing program to meet community needs.
  • Create and implement annual marketing strategy to increase community awareness.
  • Work with advertising partners to develop informative materials and branded products.
  • Coordinate division representation at community events and meetings.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Director of Family & Children Services.
