Tribal Historic Preservation Officer

General Description
The Tribal Historic Preservation Officer (THPO) reviews all federal undertakings that occur within the tribe’s current jurisdiction. As well as within the areas the Delaware Tribe of Indians had a historic presence, which includes properties that may have religious, cultural, or historic significance to Indian tribes.

Qualifications:

  • 5-7 years of managerial experience
  • Requires a high level of confidentiality, personal integrity, teamwork, and ethics
  • Professional attitude and appearance
  • Solid written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to be resourceful and proactive when issues arise
  • Excellent organizational skills and a customer service attitude
  • Multitasking and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks
  • Familiarity with project management and planning concepts
  • Requires the ability to use Microsoft Office Suite programs.
  • Must have own transportation and clean driving record- may be required to drive GSA vehicle or tribal vehicle to meeting or training.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Conducts development projects to improve department operations; develops new plans and strategies for program design, implementation, and exhibit acquisition.
  • Promotes facility funding and marketing by searching and applies for grant and sponsorship opportunities; and distributing marketing advertisements locally and online.
  • Partners with outside organizations to maintain facilities operation; discuss current tourism trends; and create attractive programming.
  • Coordinates the daily operations of the department, including opening and closing the facility, financial, and inventory documentation
  • Reviews and maintains a variety of reports, records, and other historical documentation.
  • Plans and coordinate public programs and events that promote community involvement.
  • Provides excellent and personal customer service via phone/email.
  • Manages a volunteer workforce of adults and youth who want to share their passion for history.
  • Assists in taking care of historic and natural resources through proper management practices.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Cultural Resources Director

Staff Accountant I

General Description
The Staff Accountant I serves as support staff for the Accounting/Finance Controller

Qualifications

  • CPA preferred
  • Associates Degree in Accounting required Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting preferred
  • Two years experience in accounting preferred but not required
  • Proficiency in 10-key preferred but not required
  • Experience in Abila/MIP & QuickBooks preferred
  • Familiarity of fund accounting preferred
  • Familiarity with OMB super circular, A-87, A-102, A-122, and A-133 preferred
  • Requires a high level of personal ethical integrity
  • Requires a high level of problem solving skills
  • Requires familiarity with grant writing, administration, and compliance with grant regulations
  • Requires an individual with a high level of attention to detail
  • Requires familiarity with the concepts of budget development and compliance with Tribal budgets
  • Requires willingness and ability to learn new skills, including travel to conferences and training sessions.
  • Requires proficiency in Microsoft 365 Suite programs
  • Requires good interpersonal communication and teamwork skills.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Record cash receipts/federal program draws into the accounting software
  • Record interest income earned on cash accounts and certificates of deposits
  • Prepare journal entries for bank charges or other fees as appropriate
  • Review contract propels and procurement of all contractual obligations
  • Assist in preparation of monthly financials for issuance to the tribal council and trust board
  • Perform monthly bank reconciliations and adjusting entries
  • Assist in preparation for the annual audit
  • Perform reconciliations of general ledger balance sheet accounts relating to receivables
  • Import Housing Data System activities into the general ledger monthly
  • Assist in creation of budgeting of programs
  • Communicate with regulatory institutions to ensure compliance with reporting requirements
  • Other duties as assigned by the Accounting/Finance Controller

General Description
Provide general medical assistance to Tribal Elders as needed.

  • Requires willingness and ability to learn new skills, including travel to conferences and training sessions.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide general health screenings for Tribal Elders including taking blood pressures, pulse, temperatures, etc.
  • Assess, monitor and supervise individuals to ensure health, safety, and welfare.
  • File and maintain records as required per grant.
  • Visit Elders homes as requested for basic daily living skills including basic personal hygiene, care and grooming, bathing, hair care, dressing.
  • Help Tribal Elders with caregiving as needed and applied for.
  • Schedule appointments, and maintain and update appointment calendars.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Department Director and Tribal Operations Manager.

General Description:
Answer inquiries and obtain information in regards to the Native American Graves Protection and Repatriation Act (NAGPRA). To protect and preserve the cultural heritage of the DELAWARE TRIBE OF INDIANS

Duties and Responsibilities

  • File and maintain records.
  • This position is responsible for the review of undertakings by federal and state agencies and institutions and engaging in government-to-government consultation with such agencies and institutions, the Native American Graves Protection and Repatriation Act (NAGPRA), and the protection of our sacred sites and landscapes pursuant to the American Indian Religious Freedom Act (AIRFA) and Executive Order 13007
  • The DTHPO shall be responsible for actively participating in the trilateral coalition of tribes (DELAWARE NATION, DELAWARE TRIBE OF INDIANS, and STOCKBRIDGE MUNSEE COMMUNITY) to accomplish all work related to the repatriation and reburial of our common Ancestors.
  • This position will review all federal undertakings that occur within the tribe’s current jurisdiction and acknowledged aboriginal lands, and any other locations that may have religious, cultural, or historic significance to the DELAWARE TRIBE OF INDIANS in regards to NAGPRA.
  • Communicate with regulatory institutions to ensure compliance with reporting requirements
  • Other duties as assigned by Tribal Operations Manager
