General Description
The Housing Specialist is responsible for performing administrative activities for the Housing Director within the Delaware Tribe of Indians, to ensure objectives are met within the appointed time frame and funding costs. It requires to meet and deal effectively in contact with Native American people and organizations. You must have tact, courtesy, confidentiality, discretion, resourcefulness, and sound judgement in sensitive situations at all times.

Qualifications

  • High school degree or GED required; two years of related job experience and/or training; combination of both preferred.

Mobile Domestic Violence Victims Advocate

General Description
The primary role of the Domestic Violence Victims’ Advocate is to support and assist victims of domestic violence, sexual assault, stalking, harassment, teen dating violence, and human trafficking in the community remove client barriers to safety and self-sufficiency. The Domestic Violence Victims’ Advocate will develop partnerships with court personnel, shelters, and community agencies to coordinate, collaborate and leverage resources and services to clients. All services will be client-centered and provided with the best interest of the client. The Domestic Violence Victim Advocates will work closely with the Transitional Housing Advocates. Assigned service area will be Chautauqua, Elk, and Montgomery OR Wilson, Neosho, and Labette Counties in Kansas. Company vehicle will be provided for work travel.

Minimum Qualifications

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Social Sciences with a minimum of three years of experience OR 5+ years of experience working in the fields of domestic violence advocacy, crisis intervention, application of victim protective orders, and navigation of court systems.
  • Must have a demonstrated problem-solving approach to concerns and challenges.
  • Must possess strong written and oral communication skills and must be able to demonstrate good interpersonal skills.
  • Knowledge of family violence dynamics, trauma informed advocacy services, environmental stressors, safety planning, risk assessments, local community resources, and federal and state laws pertaining to domestic abuse, Family law and the Victim Rights Bill.
  • Knowledge of family systems, cultural and ethnic diversity, client engagement and community resources. Experience in assessment and intervention desired.
  • The ideal candidate would be extremely organized, detail-oriented and passionate about helping survivors of domestic violence.
  • Position requires occasional in state and out of state travel. Must have dependable transportation. Must possess and provide verification of valid driver’s license; and must maintain and provide verification of current automobile insurance. A clear motor vehicle driving record is required to operate tribal GSA vehicles.

  • Supports Domestic Violence Victim clients with admission into the program through intake, in identifying and obtaining resources for basic needs, ongoing client advocacy, goal-setting assistance, crisis advocacy, obtaining victim protection order, assists with navigation of legal process, attends and participates at partner meetings and community engagement events, and safety planning.
  • Communicate with community partners and court personnel to create strong service collaborations.
  • Answers calls on the 24-hour crisis line during week-long rotating shifts.

General Description
The Child Development Director is responsible for the overall success of the Lenape Early Learning Center and the Delaware Tribe of Indians Child Care services. The Director will ensure proper management and execution of Head Start, CCDF and inter-tribal contracts and grant compliance. Director will work with Tribal Operations Manager and Tribal Council to provide community childcare services throughout the Delaware Tribal Service Area.

  • Knowledge and experience in Early Head Start/Head Start, tribal CCDF and/or state/ federal human services programs

  • Directly supervises the Lenape Early Learning Center Director to ensure efficient program operations that serves 36 Early Head Start children and 40 preschool and school age children.
  • Directly supervises the LELC accountant, Education Managers, Family Services Coordinator, Enrollment and Subsidy Coordinator, Kitchen Manager and maintenance.
  • Oversite responsibility for recruiting, hiring, evaluating and training all staff.
  • Responsible for ensuring the EHS program meets the Early Head Start Performance Standards and is in compliance with all federal regulations.
  • Responsible for ensuring the CCDF Childcare program meets all federal requirements as set forth by the Office of Child Care and the Cherokee Nation.
  • Prepares EHS grants, reports, budgets, newsletters, etc. and manages information on the Head Start Enterprise System (HSES)
  • Prepares CCDF reports and budgets for the Cherokee Nation and is responsible for conducting the child count.
  • Maintains close communication with the Delaware Tribal Council and provides written monthly reports.
  • Works closely with the EHS/Childcare accountant to ensure the fiscal integrity of both programs including the use of program revenues.
  • Responsible for maintaining the Delaware Child Development Center facility in accordance with local, state, federal and tribal regulations.
  • Responsible for contracts with service providers
  • Responsible for establishing an EHS/CCDF Policy Council and maintaining a close working relationship with the members.
  • Responsible for the USDA Child and Adult Care Food Program
  • Attends virtual and in person trainings.
  • Represents the Delaware Tribe at childcare and EHS meetings and conferences.
  • Responsible for ensuring the Delaware Child Development Center reflects the culture and values of the Delaware Tribe.

Qualifications

  • Enter interfund transfers and reclassification journals to the general ledger

  • Prepare journal entries for bank charges or other fees as appropriate
  • Prepare monthly financials for issuance to the tribal council and trust board

  • Perform reconciliations of general ledger balance sheet accounts relating to receivables

The Food Pantry Director is responsible for all aspects of procurement and distribution of food, including but not limited to, pick-up, receipt, storage, organization, and distribution of food to Tribal and community members in need of assistance.   • Maintain adequate food supply to provide the best quality food for Delaware Tribal members and the community each month within the budget.

  • Stock warehouse and ensure all food is sorted and stored in a safe and sanitary manner.
  • Inventory food as necessary and provide required reports.
  • Work with area a grocery stores to increase food pick-ups from stores using Tribal transportation.
  • Utilize FIFO inventory practices to ensure food quality and minimize waste.
  • Organize and oversee food distribution process.
  • Schedule staff to ensure consistent adequate support for operations.
  • Implement food pantry safety policies and procedures as enforced by local, county, state and federal guidelines.
  • Maintain a clean, well-ordered warehouse and property.
  • Operate electric forklift and box truck as necessary.
  • Must be certified in food handling safety standards.
  • Must be able to stand, walk, and lift 40lbs.

General Description
The General Maintenance Worker for the Delaware Tribe of Indians Housing Department will perform repairs for assigned equipment and facilities including plumbing, electrical, basic carpentry, heating and cooling, and other building systems.

Duties/Responsibilities

  • Inspects and identifies equipment or machines in need of repair.
  • Troubleshoots issues to determine necessary repairs.
  • Plans repair work using building’s blueprints or equipment manual as needed.
  • Performs general repairs that do not require a specialized technician. Examples may include repairing drywall, painting, and repairing doors and other building fixtures.
  • Performs routine maintenance on building systems.
  • Cleans and assists with upkeep of the facilities.

Teacher Assistant

General Description
The Assistant Teacher supports the Early Head Start classroom by helping to create a caring and safe environment for young children and assisting in activities to improve the overall care and quality of education. S/he must be able to communicate, listen and work well with others in a team environment. Assisting the staff in implementing a quality educational program and in developing positive relationships with the children and their parents, the Assistant Teacher observes and documents children’s interest and progress, and relays that information back to parents and staff. Assistant Teachers are responsible for implementing developmentally appropriate activities based on children’s interests and needs under the direction of the EHS Teacher and the LELC Director.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum requirement of a High-School Diploma/GED
  • Must obtain a minimum of a CDA within 18 months of hire
